Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency was established in or about 1984. Debbie Dawson, long-time owner, recalled that Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency was started by Helen Nyens.  Legend has it that it was Joanne Spriet, Helen’s daughter, who realized the need for a local reporting office and got her mother started in the business.

Debbie started recording examinations for Helen in or about the mid-90s and purchased Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency from Helen in approximately 2002.  Debbie owned Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency up until August 2024, when it was purchased by Amy Hofstetter.

Amy has worked as a law clerk in the legal field for the past 27 years, and in March 2024 became an authorized court transcriptionist.  Amy is excited to continue to offer the same top-notch services that Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency clients have relied on for the past 40 years.

The first Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency office opened in Delhi, Ontario, but was only there for a short time before relocating to Simcoe, where it remained until becoming a mobile office when COVID-19 struck the world.  Today, Southern Ontario Legal Reporting Agency offers virtual, in-person, and hybrid examinations.
